Falls Creek is about 1000km from Roseworthy, it is at the mountains in Victoria, and it will be snowing during winter. so we took a package from The Ski Connection, which includes the transportation, accomodation and ski gears. the journey started on thursday, 31/07/08. we took Len's shuttle bus from Roseworthy to Adelaide. Then we waited at Adelaide Bus Station, our coach to Falls Creek was at 7pm. There were only 16 of us on the bus, and since everybody was early, we took off at 6.40pm. it took almost 12 hours to reach Falls Creek. we were so excited when we saw the snow was falling from the sky, and the snows on the ground are 1 meter high. http://nadiaturakmar.fotopages.com/?entry=1640276 Thu, 07 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT ibu dessy and pak liem invited us for dinner again! so nice of them, this time, i have no time to prepare anything ,because i have to attend a 2 weeks statistics course at waite campus. the course ended at 5.00pm everyday, and we only reached home at 7.00pm.huhuhu the menu that night was lamb satay (indonesian style) and fishball soup. sangat sedap!!! http://nadiaturakmar.fotopages.com/?entry=1640229 Thu, 07 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT we went to one of the famous abbatoir in murray bridge to collect some liver and muscle samples with zibby. zibby is one of the lecturers and he has lots of experiences in this field. murray bridge is about 1 and a half hours drive from roseworthy. that was my first time going to an abbatoir.it was a bit scarry, and there's a weird smell, but after a while, i got used to it. we were given boots and coats and also shower caps to protect ourselves from err... blood or anything. anyway, we managed to get all the sample that we wanted. the staff there were very co-operative. enjoy the pictures! Last year it was in Brisbane, and the year before that was in New Zealand (if I'm not mistaken).And this year it was held in Adelaide. It would be great if it is held somewhere else, then I could go for the conference and at the same time, visit new places. Anyway, back to the GSA 2008. It started on the 7 of July, which was our first wedding anniversary. Because of that, we couldn't plan anything much, just a simple lunch together at Glenelg. The first day was the "Mixer". I am not sure why they called it "mixer", but that's how it was written in the program book. I guess the whole idea was to let people mix with each other and make new friends. I got to know 2 new friends from Thailand, Sanae and Ubon. They came all the way from Thailand for the conference. The next day was the official opening ceremony, and then the conference started. On the evening of the second day was the poster presentation. I was so nervous, and I had a wonderful experience. The third day was not so bad, people were getting tired by then. That night we had a dinner, and it started very late. We had to rush for the second last train, and we were running all the way to the train station. And finally it came to an end. Glad it was over. I have to say it was good and at the same time, tiring.
